Garden
  • Derbyshire   ( 7 Articles )

Much of Derbyshire is taken up by the Peak District which provides a splendid backdrop to many gardens including Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. It also provides the terrain and landscape for many other gardens most not so large as their stately companions, but distinctive and important nonetheless. The Dark Peak landscape that runs from the north west and above the Ladybower and Derwent Dams shows itself from exposed gritstone edges that are a magnet for walkers and climbers. These tend to be the high ground and do not make for particularly good gardening. However, the more gentle form of the White Peak, its lush valleys and dales does make for some marvellous conditions, still at times challenged by weather. It is an area of some diversity and outstanding natural beauty where some great garden displays perfectly complement the landscape.
